Addiction Counseling Certificate
Department
At a Glance
This certificate program is designed to transform how you view and approach addiction, recognizing it as a public health issue, not a criminal one. You’ll learn to apply a compassionate, evidence-based approach that respects multiple pathways to recovery, including non-abstinence-based and natural recovery. We understand that recovery is a personal journey, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Grounded in harm reduction principles, the program will prepare you to help individuals reduce the negative effects of substance use while promoting health, dignity, and respect. You’ll gain the knowledge, skills, and empathy needed to create lasting, meaningful change in the lives of those affected by addiction. This certificate may help you meet the educational requirements for addiction counselor licensure, depending on your prior graduate coursework.
