Counselors empower people and communities to optimize wellness and reach their goals. Our counselor education program prepares clinicians to work with diverse populations in many school settings. This CACREP-accredited Master of Arts in School Counseling enables international students to earn a master’s degree in counseling, New Jersey School Counseling Certification (for U.S. citizens), and/or a Certificate of Qualification (for U.S. and non-U.S. citizens). While designed to meet the needs of globally based students, this program is identical to the one offered in Ewing, New Jersey.

Who Should Pursue This Program?

Application Requirements
For students applying to the graduate program:
- An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, college, or other approved institution.
- The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) was taken within the last five years. See test waiver information.
- A completed online application.
- Current resume.
- Two strong letters of recommendation (e.g., unequivocal endorsements and letters from supervisors familiar with the applicant’s work are weighted favorably).
- Personal essay.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for applicants for whom English is a second language and who have limited experience working/learning in an English language environment.
- Applicants must also meet the specific admission requirements of their selected certificate programs.
For visiting students:
As a visiting student, you are permitted to take up to three graduate courses. This allows visiting students to take classes for professional development and/or exploratory pursuits in a graduate program. Students who plan to take more than three graduate courses must apply for admission before reaching the 9-credit threshold. Students will not be able to register for courses beyond the 9-credit threshold. Interested students must submit a visiting student application to the Office of Graduate Enrollment.
