Develop holistically as a musician and gain the skills to excel as a relevant artist in a diverse, global world. Our program trains future performing artists in a well-rounded liberal arts education setting that offers quick access to the world-class performing centers of Philadelphia and New York City. You’ll graduate with the tools, skills, and experience to begin your career as an innovative, entrepreneurial musician.
Undergraduate Program Options
MAJOR
Music Performance, BM
Choose a track: instrumental (wind, strings, and percussion), keyboard, or vocal

Careers
Our alumni pursue many paths, but they all graduate with a foundation for lifelong engagement with music. Graduates go on to thrive as performers, teachers, and scholars. They become successful performers, conductors, composers, recording engineers, stage managers, music therapists, and arts administrators. Many of our graduates also pursue graduate degrees and fellowships in advanced musicology, composition, conducting, and performance, attending the country’s most prestigious institutions.
Strong faculty-student connections and alumni relationships typically continue well past graduation, creating deep networks to draw on for career opportunities.
Free Electives
In addition to fulfilling the College Core requirements for all TCNJ students, you will plan a course of free electives to enhance interdisciplinary academic and creative perspectives on music. Secondary majors, minors, and/or concentrations are also possible and encouraged, as is study abroad. Ultimately, the degree prepares students for diverse careers depending on their individualized courses of study.
Double Majors
Music students have successfully double majored or minored in various fields, such as African American studies; anthropology; business; communication studies; history; interactive multimedia; languages; mathematics; nursing; religion, sociology; and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies.
