Accelerated/Dual-Degree Program Option
Get a jumpstart and enter the workforce with a master’s degree. Accelerated options get you there faster and more affordably through fewer semesters of classes. Dual degrees offer a streamlined path to earning two degrees, often with direct admission to the graduate portion.

Careers
There is tremendous opportunity in public health. You’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills to excel in multiple settings, disciplines, and professions as you launch your career or pursue further studies. Public health professionals may analyze data, coordinate social services, design media campaigns, allocate financial resources, manage community health programs, craft effective public policy, and guide patient care and education.
TCNJ public health alumni work as public health consultants, certified health education specialists, epidemiologists, communication specialists, clinical research coordinators, and leaders of health departments. Our students routinely land job placements by the spring of their graduating year.

Course Sequence
Students can design a custom curriculum that draws on courses from all seven TCNJ schools to support any career goal. Intensive capstone internships, providing 120 hours of on-site experiential education in an approved public health setting, ensure our graduates start their careers with an outstanding college portfolio.
Internships and Service
Public health students intern, volunteer, and serve during most semesters at TCNJ, and all have to complete a capstone project as part of their graduation requirements.
Students have found placements in hospitals and clinics (Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Penn Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, the Atlantic Health System, Henry J Austin Health Center); health departments (New Jersey State Health Department, Princeton Health Department, Hopewell Health Department, Lawrence Health Department, Philadelphia Health Department, Monmouth County Health Department, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene); nonprofit organizations (National Alliance on Mental Illness of Mercer County, Trenton Health Team, Arm in Arm, KinderSmile Foundation); global pharmaceutical companies (Pfizer, Sanofi, Janssen/J&J, Bristol Myers Squibb); and leading public health state-wide organizations (New Jersey Public Health Association, NJ YMCA State Alliance).
Students interested in global health have interned abroad in Ghana, Panama, South Africa, Israel, and Poland. Several global opportunities are currently available, including positions with our partner site, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, in Loni, India.

Public health faculty enthusiastically share their rich professional expertise, engaging students in experiential learning through interactive pedagogy and participation in leadership opportunities, including research, conferences, networking, global study, intensive internships, and mentoring.
