Cybersecurity professionals protect networks and systems from unauthorized access, theft, and damage. In this specialization, you’ll build a strong foundation in computing, covering networks, databases, and software development while developing an analytical approach to security. You’ll explore cryptographic techniques, secure coding practices, and countermeasures for cyber threats. Our program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

There is a high and steadily increasing demand for computing security experts: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the employment of cybersecurity professionals will grow by 32% in the coming decade.
Many jobs in the industry or in government don’t require a graduate degree to be hired. Typical career paths include cyber defense analyst, cybersecurity engineer, forensic expert, information security analyst, network administrator, penetration tester, security architect, and software developer.
Internships
Internships are an effective way to gain real-life experience, make connections, and potentially create long-term employment opportunities. Many TCNJ computer science students who pursued summer internships later received full-time job offers from those same firms after graduation.
Immersive Experiences
Career computer scientists and developers work across disciplines — with biologists or criminologists, for instance — to create computational solutions for clients. You will follow that same collaborative and cross-disciplinary professional model in both project-based courses and a capstone experience as well as in research projects and internships. You will also gain real practice in the team-oriented, problem-focused nature of today’s workplace.
