Get a jumpstart and enter the workforce with a master’s or professional degree. Accelerated options get you there faster and more affordably through fewer semesters of classes. Dual degrees offer a streamlined path to earning two degrees, often with direct admission to the graduate portion.

Third-year juniors may follow a six-year (3+3) accelerated pathway and graduating seniors may follow a seven-year (4+3) traditional pathway to gain direct admission to law school in this highly selective dual-degree program with Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law.

Careers
You’ll graduate with the skills, insights, and experience that attract prospective employers and elite graduate programs across the country. Many of our students go on to earn graduate degrees and licensure in counseling or clinical psychology, and common professional titles among our graduates include data scientist, lawyer, licensed psychologist or counselor, physician, and teacher.
TCNJ psychology alumni are working at organizations like Google, Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin, Meta, and RWJBarnabas Health as well as at many schools, regional healthcare providers, and independent practices of all kinds.
Course Sequence
Our curriculum encourages you to explore different areas of practice, such as clinical or organizational psychology, while maintaining a shared sequence of core courses in research methods and statistics. Popular seminar topics include cognitive neuroscience, mental health and poverty, political psychology, and sport and exercise psychology.
Experiential Learning
You can collaborate directly with faculty in our 17 research labs, studying everything from animal-assisted therapy to electrical activity in the brain. Research opportunities are widely available for all interested students, with about 150 psychology majors doing lab work each semester in closely mentored groups of six to 15 students.
As a psychology major, you may have the opportunity to collaborate directly with faculty members, many of whom regularly present and publish work with undergraduate co-authors.
Internships
Our psychology students apply skills and earn academic credit at faculty-supervised internships across a wide variety of organizations.
Students have interned at the likes of Carrier Clinic, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Church & Dwight, Eden Autism Services, Johnson & Johnson, Mathematica Policy Research, Medical Diagnostics Laboratories, the Puerto Rican Family Institute, and Special Olympics New Jersey.
Faculty
Our highly qualified psychology faculty are actively engaged in research and have substantial professional achievements. Each student has a faculty advisor to help guide and mentor them throughout the program.
