Delve into the art and science of how managers utilize resources efficiently and effectively to drive greater prosperity across an organization. TCNJ’s management curriculum includes key courses on organizational design, entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility, along with policy courses on HR management and strategic management. To help build career readiness, you’ll also take essential skill-building courses on negotiation, leadership, cross-cultural management, and decision-making.

Major
Management Specialization

Minors
Business Studies Minor
You’ll acquire general business knowledge and practical skills for careers in for-profit and nonprofit organizations. This minor is designed for non-business majors.
Human Resources Management Minor
You’ll prepare for managerial and human resources careers with a foundation in critical areas such as selection, training and development, and compensation.
Leadership Minor
You’ll benefit from a multidisciplinary approach that provides conceptual and analytical foundations in the nature and practice of leadership.
Management Minor
You’ll obtain a broad understanding of business and the general skills and knowledge needed to manage people and organizations. (available only to students in other majors)
Supply Chain Management Minor
You’ll strengthen your knowledge and expertise of the supply chain functions necessary to gain a competitive advantage in large, modern domestic and international firms.
Accelerated/Dual-Degree Program Options
Get a jumpstart and enter the workforce with a master’s degree. Accelerated options get you there faster and more affordably through fewer semesters of classes. Dual degrees offer a streamlined path to earning two degrees, often with direct admission to the graduate portion.

Careers
Every industry needs management, and each demands its own unique set of management skills and knowledge. Our management majors have succeeded across all business sectors, including commercial, industrial, financial, nonprofit, and public management. A management degree also opens doors for students with entrepreneurial instincts who want to head their own companies.
Many graduates continue their studies at top institutions, and some choose to enter programs while launching their careers to build a management portfolio and identify a specific area of interest. Human resources students often pursue a graduate degree before seeking employment.

Internships
Internships not only provide valuable on-the-job experience and training but also show potential employers that you are a self-starter prepared to be responsible for your own success. The majority of management majors complete at least one internship. What’s more, companies actively seek out our students: For example, Johnson & Johnson recruits 15 or more TCNJ business students each year for its internship program in supply chain management.
Other companies providing internships to management students in recent years include Merrill Lynch, New Jersey Special Olympics, New Jersey Bureau of Pensions and Benefits, Rue Insurance, and Sodexo.
Coursework and Tracks
Prepare to master the skills and knowledge needed to motivate employees and develop their individual potential. You’ll learn to devise the right organizational contexts — in structure, culture, and process — to ensure that people and organizations excel. You will also learn to develop strategies that enable an organization to compete in the global economy while balancing the interests of multiple diverse stakeholders in a complex legal, political, and ethical environment.
All students in the BSBA program, regardless of specialization, acquire a common body of knowledge through required courses in economics, accounting, finance, and other business topics. Management coursework builds on this business core, preparing students to lead both people and organizations.
You can pursue a broad course of study, rounding out the management curriculum with free electives that reflect your academic and professional interests. Or follow tracks within the specialization: general management, human resources management, or supply chain management.
Study Abroad
Take advantage of study abroad programs through TCNJ’s relationships with colleges and universities in more than 50 countries. By studying abroad, you’ll gain a better understanding of yourself and the interrelationship of business culture globally; increase your intercultural communication skills; and explore a cultural setting that may include visits to historic sites and museums as well as foreign businesses, government, and authorities.
