Open doors to a breadth of career opportunities as a student in TCNJ’s marketing program. Marketing is both a business orientation that considers the wants and needs of its customers to be successful and a business function responsible for generating the revenue to sustain operations. Our program equips you with the skills to successfully navigate all aspects of marketing, including selecting appropriate customers, developing a product or service to satisfy customer needs, strategizing ways of communicating with customers, and managing supply and distribution relationships.

Careers

Internships 
Nearly all of our students complete at least one internship before graduating, a testament to the wealth of opportunity in the region and the strong support of the department. Our students have landed internships in a range of organizations and industries:

Coursework
Coursework in the marketing specialization prepares students to help their organizations achieve success by considering the needs of customers in a society increasingly concerned with such complex issues as sustainability and social responsibility. Some marketing professionals strategize new products and services that improve people’s lives. Others create campaigns that build community consensus or raise awareness of policy issues or social problems. They are all creative thinkers with the ability to analyze many kinds of information and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues, from statisticians and psychologists to packaging engineers and multimedia designers.
The marketing program builds on the core business curriculum with required and elective courses in areas such as communications and advertising, international marketing, professional selling, service marketing, and consumer behavior.

The field of marketing is broad, covering many aspects of business and touching almost all other areas of business in one way or another. TCNJ marketing faculty are experts and scholars in several diverse areas of marketing, including:

Our faculty members reflect the wide range of disciplines within marketing and interdisciplinary business, from psychologists who understand consumer behavior to lawyers who study ethics, business regulation, and public policy. These professors bring the academic insights of the scholar as well as professional experience in their fields to the classroom, tying theory to its practical application in the business world and beyond. They are also enthusiastic mentors to student researchers, whether their interest is an independent study or a student-faculty research collaboration.
Study Abroad
Marketing majors have the opportunity to study abroad for a full semester or a shorter summer or winter term in more than 50 countries. In many cases, the tuition for foreign study is comparable to that of TCNJ. By studying abroad, students gain a better understanding of themselves and the interrelationship of business culture globally. Studying abroad also increases students’ intercultural communication skills and allows them to explore foreign businesses and government agencies, as well as cultural institutions including museums and historic sites.
